Ferguson Parks and Recreation is looking for part-time and full-time Summer Day Camp Group Counselors to supervise assigned campers.
Work involves planning and overseeing camper activities and ensuring camper safety.
Work is performed with under general supervision from a Day Camp Leader.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Works with the public, staff and participants in a professional manner.
Supervises children between the ages of 5 years to 13 years of age
Plan and oversee camper activities for a specific age group (may include swimming, sports, crafts, games, etc.
).
Ensure camper safety and monitor activities, on site and on field trips.
Leads a variety of games, crafts, songs, swimming, and activities related to a theme week.
Implement disciplinary actions in a fair and effective manner.
Follows directions of camp director and recreation supervisors.
Works with other staff members in organizing all camp special events.
Maintains clean and organized work areas.
Attends all staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 16 or older at time of hire.
Previous summer camp experience preferred, but not required.
Ability to serve as a positive role model for summer camp staff and children.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
CPR certification required (provided by the City upon hire).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is done in an indoor and outdoor setting.
Employment dates: Monday through Friday; June 5, 2023 until August 1, 2023 in additional with training dates the week prior (exact dates TBD).
Expected to work approximately 38 hours per week and not exceeding 40 hours per week.
