Thomas Preschool and Childcare center is looking for a passionate, kind and dedicated Teacher’s Aide to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children, be creative, patience and understanding of their development, and have excellent communication skills.
The position involves working with children aged 0-5 years old, and the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities, monitoring, and supervising children, and communicating effectively with parents and staff.
*Responsibilities:*
- Assist in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 0-5 years old
- Monitor and supervise children in the classroom and during outdoor activities
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for children
- Maintaining the personal hygeine of each child including clean hands, a clean face, diaper changes, first aid, clean clothes, etc.
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding children's progress and behavior
- Ensure compliance with state law and DCFS regulations in Illinois
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress and behavior
- Basic cleaning such as floors, after meals, toys, bathrooms, laundry, dishes, etc.
*Requirements:*
- Must be age 18 or older with a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with young children in a licensed childcare center or preschool
- Preference given to those who currently have a Bachelor’s Degree or are pursuing their degree with a state-approved teacher preparation program
- Knowledge of child development and early childhood education
- Ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for young children
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Willingness to come to work each day and with a positive attitude
- Must be able to pass a background check and fingerprinting as required by DCFS and state law in Illinois
