_We are seeking Substitute Childcare Providers to join our team and help us fulfill our mission.
*Childcare Provider*
The Substitute Child Care Provider must be skilled in communicating with children, parents, and staff in order to effectively meet the needs of the children, model healthy interactions for the parents, and collaborate with the staff.
The Substitute is responsible for implementing curriculum, carrying out the daily schedule, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the Nest when the lead (or part-time) child care provider is out.
The Substitute Provider must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
This position reports to the Director of Operations.
*Responsibilities Include:*
* Ensure a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn
* Carry out daily schedule for the children including preparing meals (breakfast, lunch, snacks)
* Maintain positive relationships with parents, volunteers, state licensing authorities, and community partners
* Carry out individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
* Lead by example; model, coach, and encourage parents enrolled in the program.
* Ensure a healthy classroom environment- including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety of the children.
* Communicate with parents through daily communication logs, conversations at drop-off/pick-up, and via email/telephone as needed.
* Supervise participants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety standards.
* Follow all policies, state regulations, and licensing standards to remain in compliance with licensing.
* Ensures proper ratios and supervision are maintained at all times.
* Maintain accurate records, forms, and documentation.
* Maintain all required trainings related to role (will provide upon hire).

This is a substitute position and as such is needed on an on-call basis.
The childcare center is open Monday-Friday, 7 am - 6 pm.
A substitute provider (teacher) may be need anytime on those days, during those hours.
*Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required*
* Must be 18 years or older.
* Commitment to the mission of Sparrow’s Nest and the parent mentor model.
* Strong oral and written communications skills; technology skills.
* Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
* A strong understanding of child development.
* Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
* Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (will provide after hire if needed).
* Must clear full background check.
* Must pass health screening.
* Flexible schedule.
*Educational Requirements*
* At least a year of experience in a child care setting
* OR 12 months’ experience with at least 6 college semester credits in child-related courses, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or Youth Development Credential (YDC) may be considered
* OR a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Development, social work, or other related field, preferred
*Physical Requirements*
* Able to take frequent walks and stand for longer periods of time.
* Able to lift 35 pounds.
* Able to bend, kneel, and sit often throughout the day.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.
50 - $15.
