Description: Position Summary: The Summer Camp First Aid Specialist will provide on-site minor medical care and manage the camp's first aid program.
Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Expected Camp dates are late May until mid-August and is a seasonal position where the employee will voluntarily separate at the conclusion of the season.
Essential Functions: 1.
Provide on-site care, observation, and evaluation for sick campers and staff 2.
Call 9-1-1 for emergency situations 3.
Place the safety and well-being of the camper and staff as the top priority.
4.
Promote a cooperative, positive, and problem-solving atmosphere at all times 5.
Document and maintain records of all first aid treatment and attendance at the first aid station including reporting treatment to the Summer Camp Director and completing incident reports 6.
Monitor camper medications as well as document and maintain records of all medications dispensed.
7.
Must maintain confidential files of all camper medical forms and waivers as well as protect the privacy of campers.
8.
Maintain camp first aid supply inventory as well as order supplies when needed.
9.
Maintain positive interaction with parents, campers, and staff.
10.
Conduct needed communication with the parents of campers regarding medical or health matters 11.
Attends all staff meetings and training 12.
Follow YMCA policies and procedures including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED Preferred education/work experience in the healthcare field as a first aid specialist or equivalent.
Minimum age of 21 Ability to work well with a diverse group of children, parents, co-workers, and adults.
Experience working with children ages 5 to 13 years old CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of the community, social, and economic segments of the community.
