JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Provide high quality education and care services for children ages six weeks to 23 weeks of age.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an Associate Degree in child development, early childhood education or child care.
Must be experienced in working with young children.
Must be able to relate to young children, teenagers and parents.
Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must have excellent human relations skills.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:
With other staff members, plan, supervise and implement a caring learning environment emphasizing literacy and the child’s opportunity for learning.
Develop and support age appropriate learning experiences emphasizing representation through language, problem-solving, music, motor and art activities.
Verbally engage the infants throughout the day in addition to incorporating play activities.
Engage with infants/toddlers on the floor as they play with age appropriate toys/activities
Use a positive approach in dealing with disruptive behavior and deal with children fairly and impartially.
Utilize information from parents and observational skills to learn about each child.
Supervise high school students from high school child development classes and their activities.
Perform daily health check and maintain good health habits for children.
Maintain program organization necessary for operating a child care center; prepare snacks/lunch, maintain accurate files.
Maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
Communicate with parents and high school students in an open and positive manner.
Participate in personal and professional development, earning number of hours required for Missouri licensing.
Demonstrate high standards of appearance, ethics, and behavior which serve as a positive model for students and parents.
Be punctual and regular in attendance, spending sufficient time to perform assigned duties thoroughly.
Work collaboratively with the parent educator assigned to your classroom.
Provide appropriate care and support to children in bathroom, including changing diapers.
Maintain daily records & reports for parents of activities, behaviors, meals & naps.
Sub or Assist teachers in 2's & mixed aged classrooms when necessary or have no infants/toddlers.
Clean & sanitize classroom equipment & toys daily.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time on the floor.
Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Assigned to 5 day work calendar; 8 hours per day vary; 12 months; compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education.
