Part-Time Early Childhood Care Worker
REPORTS TO: Principal
DEPARTMENT: ECSE Technical Education
POSITION OVERVIEW
The primary responsibility of the Early Childhood Care Worker is to work with preschool
children in a child care setting, located at South Technical High School.
Part Time Child
Care Workers will work 15 hours Monday through Friday following the Special School
District school calendar.
The purpose of the Early Childcare Center (ECC) is to provide a high-quality child care
setting as a demonstration laboratory for high school students enrolled in the career and
technical education Early Childhood Education (ECE) program.
The center is a place for
young children to play and learn.
We believe it is the responsibility of the school
administration, the ECE program staff, the students, and the parents, working together,
to ensure the health and well-being of the children who attend our centers.
We strive to provide a warm, nurturing atmosphere that promotes growth and
development of the total child.
Believing that all children have worth and importance, the
center staff constantly work to provide experiences that will help each child meet with
success and develop a positive self-concept through learning to express feelings,
control actions, and develop a balance between independent and dependent behavior.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise preschool children and monitor high school students working in the lab
Communicate with instructors, assistant teachers, and preschool parents regularly
Model professionalism at all times
Follow routines and procedures
Participate in professional development opportunities.
Maintain required certifications (first aid/CPR)
Follow all Special School District, ECE program, and ECC policies, includingMissouri licensing rules for group childcare homes and childcare centers (Follow National Association of the Education of Young Children Code of Ethics and Statement of Commitment
Be enrolled in a community college or university in an early childcare field
Duties include supervision and care of children, light housekeeping, food preparation and service
Interaction with parents and high school students should be expected
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High School diploma, college course, early childcare training preferred
TB test, physical, and Hepatitis A vaccination required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and policy and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and before groups.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to collect and graph skill programming and behavior data, add, subtract, multiply,
and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals,
and percentages.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to problem-solve and apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions furnished in written and/or oral diagram form.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly
required to talk and hear, stand, move and walk at a brisk pace, sit, and use hands and
arms to handle, feel and reach.
The position requires the ability to accompany students
anywhere on school premises.
The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel
and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Additionally, the employee must be
physically able to implement all Board of Education Policies, District procedures, and to
perform Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training and techniques.
The employee must be
physically able to react and intervene quickly during crisis situations, such as but not
limited to the following circumstances: student elopement, physical altercations
involving students, or any situation that requires physical intervention to maintain
student safety.
Yearly NCI training with participation in physical intervention strategies
is a requirement for the job.
