Role Responsibility Statement
The purpose of the Camp Counselor is to use their kindness, enthusiasm, and perception to guide children at summer camp teaching them love for our amazing world, love for their friends, and love for Jesus.
Our camp’s values are fun, safety, friendship, and faith.
This position is seasonal; the candidate will need to work45 hours a week for ten weeks during summer.
(Children are at camp for 8 weeks,5 days a week, 7 hours a day.
) For the 2024 summer, the camp will be a pilot program welcoming 20 children.
This position pays $17 to $18 dollars per hour, with time-and-a-half paid for hours over 40 hours.
Key Responsibility Areas
1.
Guide children toward fun, friendship, and faith in Jesus.
– Have fun with children by joyful activities.
– Help children make friends and gain skills to be better friends.
– Lead children in simple prayers and discussions about Jesus.
– Follow plans of Camp Director regarding daily and weekly activities with children.
– Fill unexpected gap time with joyful improvisation.

Support Camp Director
– Help prepare materials for daily and weekly planned activities.
– Help prepare facilities before the each day and reorganize after each day.
– Help Camp Director with other daily tasks as assigned.
– Work with the Camp Director to prepare facilities for camp.
3.
Keep children safe.
– Support Camp Director in teaching children camp expectations.
– Discipline children appropriately for violating camp expectations.
– Watch over children with special dietary or activity restrictions.
– Assist in procedures to check children into and out of camp each day.
Knowledge & Experience Requirements
One to Three years of school, camp, or child-care experience preferred.
Knowledge of the Catholic faith is preferred.
Skills & Attitudes Required For Success in Role
Active practice of personal faith in Jesus Christ.
Strong interpersonal skills, especially with children in grades K-2.
Kindness and patience.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team
Friendly, welcoming attitude.
Other Requirements
Collaborate closely with Camp Director
Sufficient mobility, energy, and health to sustain continual interaction with vigorous children.
