About The Position
The Compliance Operations Engineer is responsible for assisting Transmission Business Functions in maintaining compliance with SERC, NERC, and FERC Standards and Regulations, including but not limited to: EOP, TOP, PER, and COM standards.
The Engineer works alongside Standard Owners and Subject Matter Experts to promote operational efficiency and establish internal controls and supporting documentation to mitigate compliance risks and maintain evidence for audits.
The Engineer also provides testimony of Transmission Business Function processes, controls, and documentation during internal and external audits of SERC, NERC, and FERC Standards and Regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
Assist Standard Owners and Subject Matter Experts with the creation and maintenance of internal policies, processes, procedures, and guidelines to promote operational efficiency and NERC CIP and O&P Compliance.
Work alongside Transmission Business Functions to automate work practices and mitigate risk using new or existing job tools
Participate in industry committees, forums, working groups, and/or drafting teams related to operational efficiency and SERC, NERC, and FERC Compliance
Review, comment, and provide ballot recommendations for new and revised standards to Compliance Oversight
Use automated tools to generate, monitor, and report progress on compliance activities, implementation plans, and mitigation plans for SERC, NERC, and FERC Standards and Regulations, including but not limited to: EOP, TOP, PER, and COM standards.
Assist Transmission Business Functions with managing documentation, compliance activities and risks for other local, state, and federal regulations as needed
Be familiar with Transmission Engineering and Operations processes to represent business lines during internal and external audits of SERC, NERC, and FERC Standards and Regulations, including but not limited to: EOP, TOP, PER, and COM standards.
Support development of Root Cause Analysis, investigations, Self-Reports, and Mitigation Plans
Work with Engineering and Operations to inventory work processes
Maintain Risk and Compliance tools and applications
Review standard applicability for new, upgraded, and acquired facilities
Stay up-to-date with new and revised standards as well as standards newly applicable to Ameren
Review RSAWs and evidence periodically in support of compliance readiness
Support business functions with preparation of responses to RFI relating to mitigation plans and applicable surveys from SERC and NERC.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited University is required.
Three or more years of relevant utility experience preferred (e.
g.
compliance, utility engineering, transmission or distribution operations, transmission planning, information systems/cybersecurity, system protection, substation design, etc.
).
Experience with relational databases, utility work management and engineering tools (Maximo, ASPEN, CAPE, ENOSERV Powerbase/RTS, iTOA) and business collaboration/data analysis tools (Sharepoint, Power BI) strongly preferred.
