The Ferguson Municipal Court Department is seeking a highly-driven full-time Court Clerk Assistant.
In this role, the Court Clerk Assistant provides administrative and clerical support during courtroom proceedings.
It is imperative that this position demonstrates behavior consistent with the vision, mission, and values of the City of Ferguson, and provides excellent customer service.
Daytime hours (schedule will vary) and include evening court approx.
2 nights per month.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responds to inquiries, questions and complaints from the general public and Court related personnel via telephone and in-person regarding Court policies, procedures, personnel and specific cases.
Process incoming and outgoing mail; forward any correspondence to the appropriate staff.
Accepts payments for citations, warrants, jail bonds, parking and other payments authorized by the Court.
Prepares and sanitize the courtroom for municipal court hearings.
May serve as the court runner/marshal during court proceedings.
Records disposition of cases identified by docket reports; complete disposition sheets and calendar during final calendar call.
Enters disposition/adjudication and conditions in court management software in real-time.
Ensures forms are signed by judge prior to the end of each court session and made available for payment.
Scan and file various legal reports, records, citations, and all other documents pertinent to the Court.
Assists with posting and obtaining information.
Assists in the preparations and maintenance of court dockets, court records and files, all pleadings and notes of all depositions and cases.
Prepares and processes records, forms and other legal documents such as court dockets, expungement papers, citations, warrants and jail cases.
Ensures all court documents are complete, accurate, and in compliance with State of Missouri law and court procedures.
Maintains the relevant training and certifications as required by the position.
Attends court and assist judge, solicitor and court clerks during the course of court as requested.
Prepares and types various letters, reports, summaries and correspondence.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED required.
Prior courtroom/court clerk experience required.
Competent Personal Computer skills: typing, printer/scanner/computerized fax system.
Competent with Computer Software: Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, ShowMe Courts, Adobe products, DocuSign and AV (Audio/Visual) systems.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills; understand and carry out moderately difficult written and oral instructions for operation of court software, and completing forms.
Must be able to multi-task, have professional demeanor, and excellent customer service skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations.
Notary of Public certificate; or able to attain certificate to serve as a Notary.
Must be able to pass an extensive background check.
Considerable experience in performing clerical, or related work including cash handling.
Good knowledge of modern office procedures and practices including English, arithmetic and spelling.
Paralegal certificate or relevant combination of education and experience preferred.
Knowledge of municipal court procedures.
Valid State of Missouri driver's license (Non-commercial Class A or B) with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).

The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
