Position Specifications
Incumbents in this position in the City Counselor's Office are responsible for providing legal advice to the Mayor’s Office, City department heads and administrative boards and staff.
Work will include contract and transactional matters, pensions, tax, bond and other municipal finance issues.
This will include the drafting of proposed legislation and coordinating with the City’s development agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a school of law approved by the American Bar Association; current membership in the Missouri Bar in good standing or licensure in another state with eligibility for reciprocity in Missouri; plus four years of legal practice in one of the above areas.
Documentation of membership in the Missouri Bar or licensure in another state must be submitted upon request.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Previous legal practice in municipal affairs and familiarity with the structure and operations of City government is highly preferred.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam.
An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.
City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
