Des Peres, Missouri law firm seeks Associate Attorney with a passion for litigation to help the firm with its growing litigation practice as well as assist in its local government practice as needed.
A successful candidate will be licensed to practice law in Missouri and will have experience or an interest in developing experience in the areas of civil litigation, criminal defense, and municipal prosecution.
The firm is looking for candidates with excellent research, writing and organization skills.
This position requires frequent contact with clients, court personnel and other attorneys.
Such contact includes: phone consultations, court appearances, correspondence, and representation of clients in court and in front of governmental bodies.
This position provides an opportunity to learn and practice with a well-established firm.
Key Responsibilities:
* Meeting and regularly corresponding with clients
* Drafting, reviewing, responding to discovery documents
* Engaging in motion practice and proactively managing cases
* Conducting and/or defending depositions
* Court appearances and hearings, as well as the potential for trial experience
Competencies:
* Knowledge of, or interest in, litigation
* Ability to efficiently manage a complex workload
* Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, small team environment
* Professional communication skills (verbal and written)
* Ability to work well with all levels of internal personnel, external resources, clients, opposing counsel, and regulatory authorities
Education and Experience:
* J.
D.
from an ABA accredited law school or equivalent
* Although no experience is necessary, preference is given to those attorneys that have either experience in civil litigation or have served as State Prosecuting Attorneys
Skills:
* Skilled in operation of a personal computer, including Microsoft Word, Excel
* Westlaw proficiency
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
* Licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri
