Positions begins on July 1, 2024
The 22nd Judicial Circuit Court seeks applicants for a Staff Attorney II – Family Court.
Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor and be a member of the Missouri Bar in good standing.
Must possess thorough knowledge of trial practices in Juvenile Law.
Prefer two to three years
Family Law or Domestic Relations practice experience and/or judicial clerkship experience.
Ability to analyze legal issues and the probable outcome of a case.
Must have legal research
and writing skills as well as both oral and written presentation skills.
Thorough knowledge of
criminal and family law.
Good interviewing, communicating, writing skills and strong computer
skills are required.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Starting salary is $68,822.

JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Family Court (311)
CLASS TITLE: Staff Attorney II – Family Court
REPORTS TO: Domestic Violence Court Judge
CLASS DEFINITION: Under general supervision by Domestic Violence Court Judge, the
incumbent provides legal research and writing as directed on any matter brought before
the Family Court.
JOB DUTIES
• Provides legal review as directed by the Family Court Judge.
• Performance of in-depth legal research for the Judges of the Circuit Court in connection
with Family Court cases.
• Attending hearings, trials and in-chambers conferences as required.
• Providing concise, immediate answers in response to Judge’s questions of law which
may arise during substantive hearings or trials.
• Preparation of memoranda on legal issues, and preparation of proposed orders and
opinions for Judge’s approval and signature.
• Assist Domestic Violence and Pro Se Manager as needed and available.
Note that trials
and substantive hearings will take precedence.
• Regular and prompt attendance is considered an essential function of this position.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of the Missouri Statutes and
Missouri Supreme Court Rules.
Thorough knowledge of trial practices and matters in Family
Law.
Good interviewing, communicating and writing skills are required.
MINIMUMAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and be a member of the Missouri Bar
Association in good standing.
Prefer two to three years Family Law or Domestic Relations
practice experience and/or judicial clerkship experience.
