SOFTLINES Assistant Manager
Reports to: Store Manager
Classification: Exempt / Salaried (min 45 hpw)
JOB SUMMARY:
To oversee the operational activities of the entire store while providing positive leadership to the team.
This position is responsible for working with the Store Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the store, customer service, and ensuring all team members are executing our Gold Standards of Operational Excellence.
Oversees the Softlines Departments, Sporting Goods & Gun Counter, Consumables, and Plants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides customers with World Class Customer Service through friendly, quick, and accurate assistance.
Supervises and coordinates the activities of all store staff, recommending measures to improve performance and increase efficiency.
Recommends or initiates personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
Responsible for training and coaching, new and existing, team members to the Gold Standard.
Assists in planning, directing, and coordinating safety and loss prevention programs.
Helps to oversee Table & Endcap Programs and Store Scheduling.
Assists in the analysis of financial impacts of risks on the company within authority, managing inventory and implementing appropriate techniques to minimize shrink.
Performs all basic job functions such as email, operating a register, bookkeeping, scanning, operating a pallet jack, tow motor, price changes, setting ads, merchandising, checking in freight, in-store pickup, and managing the utilization of the Learning Management System.
Collaborates with Store Manager to identify, plan and develop methods and procedures to obtain greater profit and efficiency in our business.
Works closely with Scanning Coordinators, Bookkeepers, and Inventory Specialists to ensure pricing, inventory, and accounting accuracy.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Works a minimum of 45 hours per week.
Lifting capability up to and includes 80 lbs.
Ensures all Federal and State guidelines are being followed with respect to the sale of firearms.
Reviews and Audits Firearms inventory and 4473 forms on a weekly basis for accuracy.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes special projects as directed by the Store Manager.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned throughout the store at any given time.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS-EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Ideal candidate must have at least 3-5 year’s retail experience.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop and train store personnel.
Must be 21 years of age and have a valid FOID card (if Illinois Resident).
