Job Title: Production Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Production Manager provides strategic and tactical planning and execution for the Packaging Department.
He/she also forecasts, develops and manages budgets, resource planning and capacity planning.
He/she, along with direct and indirect staffs plans, organizes and manages packaging related operations.
He/she is responsible for efficient and timely production of demand and customer requirements, within all quality and safety standards.
He/she insures proper staffing and skill set levels as well as providing appropriate leadership, coaching/mentorship and discipline in executing the production plan and facility objectives.
The Production Manager is also responsible for Compliance within his/her areas of responsibility.
Additionally, he/she is responsible for insuring necessary training/skill set alignment is in place to meet short and long term need and insuring succession planning and people development are in place.
Finally, the Production Manager is responsible for insuring his organization is deeply embedded in continuous improvement and process innovation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides comprehensive formal and informal leadership to promote a positive work environment and communicate overall business expectations to the plant working groups.
Prepares and communicates objectives to achieve operational objectives, specifically around cGMP, Quality, Safety and Operational Efficiency.
Prepares and insures alignment to Job Descriptions within his/her department and reviews, establishes clear roles and responsibilities for operating staff and executes a performance management process to insure alignment with G&O.
Develops individuals within the operating functions to continually enhance performance of individuals and overall work team.
Establishes consistent work instructions in conjunction with Supervisors and other functional Managers.
Promotes open and collaborative work environment with all peers and subordinates.
Develops and provides periodic reports on operating metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manages, through subordinate supervisors, the responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and employees.
Works on problems of a diverse scope in which analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Acts as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet objectives.
Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies.
Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules.
Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organizations.
Personnel in this position will adhere to all cGMPs, compliance/regulatory mandates and quality requirements including assisting in quality complaints and writing deviations.
Promote and enforce GMP and SOP compliance in a FDA regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, ensuring product integrity, safety and compliance with standards.
Possess a working knowledge of cGMPs, FDA and DEA regulations and Legacy Pharmaceutical Packaging policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned to meet departmental and Company objectives.

ACCOUNTABILITY
The Production Manager shall be held accountable for the compliance, accuracy and timeliness of responsibilities and work assigned.
He/she is responsible the tangible manufacture/packaging of commercial requirements that support current, short term and longer-term budget needs.
Demonstrated management and leadership skills, including strong interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to coach and mentor personnel to consistently high standards.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with primary support functions; Quality, Planning and Maintenance
Comprehensive understanding of cGMP regulations and requirements and ability to translate to operational details and communicate to work staff.
Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering or Industrial Management preferred
Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
