The Director of Cultivation is responsible for executing operating strategy and establishing clear goals and metrics for the operational teams in the Cultivation division by aligning with corporate financial and strategic goals to produce high quality products with ever increasing quality, efficiency, and profitability.
For overseeing day-to-day functions of the cultivation production areas; managing all cultivation associates; ensuring all processes, SOPs, training requirements, schedules, policies, and procedures are followed; ensuring the cultivation production goals are met; and checking and verifying all harvested crops for processing, drying, trimming, COAs, packaging, labeling and dispatch.
The Director will ensure all products are produced to Curio’s best-in-class standards, while assuring appropriate levels of inventory are produced in the most cost-effective manner and in full compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
This person will be responsible for the documentation, ordering, and receiving of all inventory and products, maintaining facility compliance, and cleanliness.
This person will manage the current team in place while reporting to our VP of Cultivation.
The Director will also work closely with other Phase Managers and Directors to execute the company’s overall cultivation strategy.
This role requires appropriately forecasting and translating crop output into overall financial impact consistent with achieving the company’s annual budget.
Associate Support and Management: Responsible for managing cultivation staff, schedules, cultivation processes, inventory, and vendor relations Serves as a role-model and resource for cultivation staff concerning products and services, policies and procedures, industry news, and changes in regulations Responds to all associates questions, concerns, or suggestions and takes action, when necessary, to resolve conflicts Responsible for delegating tasks to cultivation associates to maintain a compliant and clean cultivation facility Coordinates with the upper management team to ensure accurate information is communicated to the cultivation staff Cultivation Operation Management: Execute strategy by establishing clear goals and metrics for the operational teams aligned to corporate financial goals to produce high quality products with increased efficiency and profitability.
Develop metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Productivity and align team objectives to improve performance.
Recruit, train, develop, and retain new and current staff.
Motivate and coach team members to achieve their best and create an engaged culture in continuous improvement.
This position is responsible for the P+L of the Cultivation Division and requires close coordination with Sales and Manufacturing to ensure product availability at desired cost.
Oversees all cultivation tasks and processes, ensures proper documentation of all applicable activities in accordance with the policies and standards set by Curio Wellness.
Owning all end-to-end cultivation processes, including managing weekly crop production task planning and execution, and scheduling and managing post-harvest production activities.
Managing weekly crop production task planning and execution to include activities such as, mother stock maintenance; propagation; vegetative growth and flower induction; flower growth; harvest, dry and cure; and integrated pest management (IPM) program.
Scheduling and managing post-harvest production activities to include trim and flower packaging.
Measuring crop output against quantitative metrics with a focus on continuously improving quality and quantity of crop output measured on a square foot of canopy basis.
Managing inventory, including controlled substances, to ensure no disruptions to operations while minimizing capital utilization.
Strategically leading Curio’s cultivar portfolio management system to ensure patients can select from a robust portfolio of Curio's best in class flower.
Implementing and enforcing Lean and Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) or related standards.
Efficiently manage cultivation staff, schedules, cultivation processes, inventory, and vendor relations.
Ensure that the cultivation division adheres to all state regulatory compliance standards and maintains proper documentation.
Responsible for compiling and updating the Cultivation Newsletter Responsible for all Process Flow Maps, SOPs and ensuring they are practiced and enforced throughout all processes Plans, coordinates, and oversees the transition of product development by ensuring the proper tasks are executed and the environmental conditions support the cultivation of superior product quality Oversees supply stock, orders, and deliveries to ensure efficient levels of all cultivation inputs and supplies Responsible for creating baseline nutrient mixes that will maximize plant health, and for ensuring proper application within the cultivation according to Curio Cultivation Paradigm.
Ensure optimal plant health by pruning, toping, trimming, trellising, analyzing plant health according to the Curio Cultivation Paradigm, as well as any other tasks required Manage and Maintain Mother Crops and all propagation activities.
Direct environmental programs, such as air or water compliance, aboveground or underground storage tanks, spill prevention or control, hazardous waste or materials management, solid Waste recycling, customer waste management, indoor air quality, integrated pest management, employee training, and disaster preparedness Manage and maintain 5S throughout the cultivation division.
Reports and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all cultivation activities including employee records, inventory records, crop application records, materials receipt, returns, etc.
in accordance with the policies and standards set by Curio Wellness Maintain and review Cultivation SOP’s Manage Cultivation Newsletter Manage Cultivation weekly reports and meeting Communicating with the leadership team on any cultivation developments that could affect fiscal or operational performance.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BS) in Plant Biology, Physiology, Biological Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, or related major.
Other Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge and understating of plant nutrition and management Demonstrated knowledge of IPM and use of biological treatment for pests & diseases Advanced knowledge of plant cultivation and cultivation facility operations Firsthand experience in day-to-day use and management of irrigation and environmental climate control software systems Preferred Argus Systems, Priva or similar Required: Advanced MS Office skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint Demonstrated personnel management experience Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills Demonstrated experience managing associates and operations Ten years of experience in a position with managerial responsibilities Experience in a position requiring critical-thinking, problem-solving, planning and assessment Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment Proficiency in windows-based software applications and database management Experience managing a large-scale cultivation operation that has a clean history of compliance Must be at least 21 years of age
